The Good News!

From "Steps To Peace With God", a leaflet by Billy Graham, by the same title:

First Step: Recognize God’s purpose for my life

God loves you and wants you to experience peace and life eternally.

  • John 10:10: “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

Second Step: Acknowledge that I have a sin problem

God created us in His own image to have an abundant life. He did not make us as robots to automatically love and obey Him. God gave us a will and freedom to choice. We each chose to disobey God and go our own willful way. This results in a present and eternal separation from God due to our sin.

We try to bridge this gap of separation from God by doing good works, but there is nothing we can do on our own to save ourselves.

Third Step: Accept God’s remedy for my problem

Our sin brought a death penalty that needed to be paid.  Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose from the grave.  His death on the cross was the perfect substitution for the death that we deserve because of our sin.  Christ, therefore, paid the penalty for our sin and bridged the gap between God and people.

Fourth Step: Ask Jesus to be my Savior and Leader

We must commit ourselves to Jesus by asking for His forgiveness and by deciding to follow His leadership in our lives.  This decision is the beginning of a relationship with the One who made you and loves you deeply.

To begin this new and eternal life with Christ right now you can pray the following prayer:

Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins. I want to turn from my sins and learn how to walk in Your ways. I now invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Leader. Amen.”
